How to Keep Your Trees and Shrubs Healthy

Whether you have just planted your trees and shrubs or had them for years, you know you want them to keep looking lush and healthy, year after year.

Keeping them healthy will allow you to continue to enjoy them and their benefits. Maintenance will also reduce the risk of a tree falling on your home or your car — or even worse, someone else’s home or car.

The process of protecting your trees and shrubs is a worthwhile investment and with the right service provider, you are well assured you and your family will enjoy them for many years to come.

Our Deep Root Fertilizer Program is the most important aspect of maintaining healthy trees and shrubs — it is the most preferred method of fertilizing trees and shrubs. All trees and shrubs require certain nutrients to function and grow properly.

What Do We Do?

We highly recommend that 2 treatments be applied throughout the season usually in the Spring and the Fall.

Deep root fertilization ensures a balanced soil. A balanced soil is essential to strong plant growth.

How Does It Work?

Deep root fertilization is the process of injecting a liquid, time-released fertilizer about 6-10″ deep around the tree or shrub.

The fertilizer is injected below the roots of the surface to provide the maximum benefit to the slightly deeper roots of the trees and shrubs. This process also acts as a type of aeration which allows for much needed oxygen to reach the deeper root systems of some trees and shrubs.

Benefits of Deep Root Fertilization

  • provides proper nutrients for trees
  • encourages root growth
  • aeration of soil
  • reduction of soil compaction
  • healthier and more attractive trees
  • more resistant to disease and insect infestation
  • promotes foliage, beauty, and value to your property

Surface fertilization, which is the typical lawn fertilization, does NOT provide a significant benefit to trees and shrubs as the fibrous roots of lawn and ground covers restrict the nutrients from filtering down to the deeper sub-surface soil layer where the roots of the trees and shrubs reside. This is not effective. Instead, look to our Deep Root Fertilizer program.
